Why did we create 'The Quality Memory Game'?
Because B2B systems and quality management don't always have to be about boring spreadsheets, stressful IATF audits, and endless 8D reporting. Sometimes you just need to unplug for five minutes, have a laugh with your office colleagues, and reset your mind before the next meeting.
What is a Red Rabbit and visual inspection?
In the automotive and manufacturing industries, a 100% visual inspection often takes place at the end of assembly lines. The operator frequently has only seconds to catch a scratch, a missing screw, or another defect. However, during a long shift, attention naturally wanes, which is why auditors and quality specialists use a test called Red Rabbit.
How does the Red Rabbit test work in practice?
A quality engineer intentionally, but covertly, introduces a defective part (a known reject) onto the line, knowing exactly what defect it has. They then wait at the end of the line to see if the visual inspection operator or the workers directly in the line flow catch this "red rabbit".
If the part passes as good (OK), it's proof that the control mechanism (whether human or an automated vision system) has failed. The result is an immediate line stoppage, operator retraining, and often the issuance of an 8D report to resolve the root cause using the 5-Why methodology.
In our memory game, the rabbit acts as the Old Maid:
- The Red Rabbit card is in the deck only once (it has no pair).
- It represents a real defect that you must not let pass further down the line.
- If you flip it during the game, you've just shipped a reject to the customer (and we all know what that means in practice). Your "escape" will be logged in the final report!
How to train visual memory?
Memory (Pexeso) is not just a game, but a real training of cognitive skills and prevention of operational blindness. For quality operators, we recommend conducting similar visual drills before the start of a shift. Our algorithm records how many times the player incorrectly identified a rabbit before finding all correct pairs. The ideal goal is to achieve a state of Zero Defects.
